1. General information Ilha do Guajiru

Brazil's eastern coast is world-renowned for its outstanding kitesurfing conditions - and Ilha do Guajiru stands out as the absolute highlight. Perfect wind conditions from June through January, consistently warm climate, and an unparalleled shallow-water lagoon right at your doorstep make this spot truly unique.

The lagoon at Ilha do Guajiru measures approximately 5 km long and 700 meters wide. Protected from the open sea by a sandbar, it creates safe and relaxed kitesurfing conditions. You'll find nearly 2.5 km² of flat water to play on all day long - right outside your hotel room door.

The wind always blows from the northwest, meaning you can utilize the full length of the lagoon for your riding.

If a trick doesn't go as planned or your jump is too high, you'll be carried gently back to shore - thanks to the steady wind direction and shallow water.

The Ilha do Guajiru kitespot is one of the safest in the world. The lagoon is protected by shores on all sides, so you'll always have safe ground in sight. Even lost kites or boards stay within the lagoon and are often retrieved by friendly local fishermen.

The lagoon is tidal: wider at high tide, narrower at low tide. However, the southern area always maintains sufficient depth, ensuring perfect kitesurfing conditions at all times. Depending on the tide, we provide daily transfers to the lagoon mouth where you can kite any time of day.

The lagoon at Ilha do Guajiru is located in Northeast Brazil, measuring approximately 5 km long and 700 meters wide. Perfect wind conditions from June through January, consistently warm climate, and an unparalleled shallow-water lagoon right at your doorstep make this spot truly unique.

2. Kite gear rental in Ilha do Guajiru

At our 7 Beaufort Brasil in Ilha do Guajiru, you can easily rent all your kite equipment. Especially between mid-August and mid-October, we recommend having a smaller kite - for women a 7m² kite and for men a 9m². Of course, this is just a suggestion as every kiter has their own preferences.

With our kite rental service, you'll save on sports luggage while getting access to the latest Core kites and other premium equipment that we refresh every season.

You can save weight with our compressor for the kite pump. As for big or light-wind boards, you'd only be hauling unnecessary gear around.

Don't want to buy a small kite just for Brazil? Think you can manage with your 9m? No problem! If the wind picks up more than expected, we have smaller kites available for rent, as well as shoes and lycras for rent or purchase.

For beginners, we recommend wearing neoprene shoes as the lagoon isn't always free of rocks and shells. Even a small stone can be uncomfortable, even for experienced kiters.

Itarema

If you'd like to experience more of Brazilian land and life, we recommend visiting Itarema, about 4 km away. The town gives you an authentic glimpse of real Brazil, with a lively market and colorful everyday life.

Here time moves differently - by 6am all shops are already open and locals are out on the streets.

Especially on Tuesdays, when the market takes place. This is an experience not to be missed. While the goods on offer - from clothing, household items, tools, knick-knacks to food - might not appeal to the average tourist's taste, the cultural difference is invigorating and fascinating. The atmosphere here is generally quite loud and bustling. Except of course during the siesta hours from 12pm to 3pm.

Another highlight is Jericoacoara, a highly popular destination about 120 km away. In the midst of legally protected dunescapes emerged a village that's likely unique in the world. Not to mention the amazing capoeira performances (Brazilian martial art dance), the charming caipirinha stands on the beach, or the walks to Pedra Furada, Jeri's landmark. And as if that weren't enough, this is where you'll find the prettiest souvenirs.
